SRINAGAR December 16, 2014:: Castigating state authorities for placing Syed Ali Geelani under continuous house detention, Hurriyat Conference Tuesday in its statement said that since last 4 years Geelani is confined to his house .Hurriyat expressed its deep concern and said that during recent floods though police siege was lifted for a short spell of one month but soon after the announcement of elections in state, Geelani was deprived from all his basic rights and once again placed under house arrest and barred from all his religious, social and political activities. Hurriyat said that Geelani is leading his nation and represents aspirations of subjugated people of Jammu and Kashmir without any fair and authorities can ,t break his resolve. it is sheer violations of fundamental rights said Hurriyat and despite their [SN1] tall claims for being a great democracy, authorities are depriving him from all basic rights .Hurriyat while terming all restrictions against Geelani as unjustified , stated that ailing and elderly Geelani is being barred from offering Friday obligations and termed all these restrictions a blot on Indian democracy. Hurriyat said that barring Geelani from his social, political and religious activities are not justified because of the disputed status of Kashmir.
Hurriyat expressed its serious concern over continous detention of senior leader Masarat Aalam Bhat and termed it political retribution against incarcerated leader and added that during peoples up rise in 2010, he was detained against false accusations and there is no legal, constitutional and moral justification for his continous detention.
Hurriyat expressed deep concern and demanded immediate release of political leaders detained outside state in Tihar, Jharkhand, Ranchi, Gujrat and other parts of India and added that Dr Gh Mohammad Bhat, Tariq Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Rafeeq Shah, Dr Aashiq Hussain Faktoo, Dr Mohamad Shafi Khan, Mohamad Amin Wani, Noor Mohammad Tantray, Gh Qadir Bhat (Kupwara),Mohamad Amin Dar (Banihal),Bashir Ahmad Baba Hurriyat rejected the statement of police chief wherein he had stated that all political leaders and activists were released .Hurriyat said that Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mohammad Yousuf Lone, Mir Hafiz Ullah, AB Ghani Bhat, Aashiq Hussain Sofi, Mohamad Syed Bhat, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Ab Ahad Para, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat and scores of other leaders were not released despite filing their bail documents.
