Srinagar\19\\: Chairman Hurriyat Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under house arrest. He was again barred from attending the Friday congregational prayers while as on his appeal today most of the Masjids of the Valley offered funeral prayers in absentia for the martyred children of Peshawar and prayers were held for the stability and prosperity of Pakistan. Funeral prayers in absentia were also held at many places of Srinagar while as Peer Saifullah led the prayers at Hyderpora, Raja Mehraj-ud-din at Masjid Iqra Saraibala and Muhammad Shafi Wagay in Islamabad where they also addressed the people. In a statement issued to the press, hurriyat spokesman said that although the Geelani sahib was released for a very short period after the floods in Kashmir but as soon as the announcement for the election drama was made, he was once again confined to the four walls of his house. A huge consignment of police is deployed round the clock around the house of Geelani sahib and he is not being allowed to come out of his house. The spokesman said that the house detention of Geelani sahib has no court orders like in the past and nor have police produced any written order from the state administration. A responsible leader is being detained in his home on the gun point and all his religious, social and political activities have been banned. The spokesman said that it is the grave human rights violation and it doesn’t have any moral, legal and constitutional justification. The spokesman appealed all the human rights organizations to take serious notice of the continuous detention of the hurriyat chairman. Meanwhile on the appeal of hurriyat chairman, today people from all over the state participated in the funeral prayers in absentia for the martyred children of Peshawar and prayed for the stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
