Srinagar\17\\: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Executive Body (Majlish Shoora) held an important meeting, which was presided over by its chairman Syed Ali Geelani and which was attended by the heads and representatives of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen, Employees Movement, Democratic Political Movement, Mass Movement, People’s League, People’s Freedom League and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. The issues like the ambiguity present in the withdrawal of Army from the Tossa Maidan, expected Indo-Pak secretary level talks, continuous detention of all the political prisoners including Masarat Alam Bhat, Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Mohammad Yousuf Falahi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Amir Hamzah and brother of Fareeda Bahanji, were discussed in the meeting and the future strategy was also discussed there. The executive body felt that the government is deliberately keeping the common people in the dark about the Tossa Maidan issue and it is not being explained that on what grounds is Indian army still occupying the said land and how much time will they take to vacate the land. Geeani sahib said that the “operation clean up” is actually an attempt to divert the attention from the basic issue otherwise army doesn’t want to leave that place and the state government also doesn’t have such a courage that they will adopt a clear stand upon this issue. Geelani sahib directed the members of the executive body to closely monitor this issue. He said that until the army doesn’t completely withdraw from that area, hurriyat will continue to collect the public consensus against this issue and if need arises we will launch a movement with the people of that area against the presence of army on that area. It was agreed in the meeting that before the Indo-Pak secretary level talks, Geelani sahib should meet the Pakistan High Commissioner in Delhi and convey the stand of Hurriyat about the said dialogue. While commenting on this issue, Geelani sahib said that we are not against the dialogue process but we believe that until and unless Kashmir is not addressed as the core issue and this issue is not solved according to the wishes and aspirations of its people and according to its historical perspective, like the past, this dialogue will also fail to succeed and this will be a meaningless exercise. Geelani sahib said that in-front of us, the implementation of UN resolutions are the only practicable and democratic solution of this issue but the tri-parties talks can prove a good beginning to reach that level. He said that we want to convey to the government of Pakistan that the people of Kashmir will not accept anything less than complete freedom for the Kashmir. The people have out-rightly rejected the four point formula and in future also they will not accept any such out of box formula. Geelani sahib said that the patch work policies have failed in the past and they will not work in future also. He said that in the changing global scenario, India can’t keep-up its traditional rigidity and stubbornness and she will be left with no other option to address the inner of the Kashmiri people. While strongly condemning the continuous detention of Masarat Alam Bhat, shifting him to Jammu jail and continuous house arrest of Raja Mehraj-ud-din from 14 August, the executive body said that the government is prosecuting the pro-freedom leadership for their political ideologies and are subjecting them to the political vengeance which is the grave human rights violations. Masarat Alam Bhat is from last 4 years under the preventive detention of police which is totally unjustified. From the 14 August, all the pro-freedom leaders were placed under the house detention and were released on the evening of 15 August but Raja Mehraj-ud-din is still in detention and due to some unknown reasons, he is not being released. While demanding the immediate release of all the political prisoners including Mohammad Yousuf Falahi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Ameer Hamzah, Altaf Ahmad Khan, Abdul Hameed Parray, Assadullah Parray, Abdullah Nasir, Showkat Hakeem, Mehraj-ud-din Nanda, and Molvi Sajad, the executive body said that on the directions of Indian home ministry, Omer Abdullah government is prolonging the detention of the political prisoners and is subjecting them to the political vengeance. Geelani sahib appealed Amnesty International, International Red Cross Committee and other human rights organizations to take notice of this issue of political prisoners and use their influence in their release.
